The Kidderminster MC event saw crews tackle nine stages in the rain at Sweet Lamb.

Gardener, having his first outing since his Somerset Stages accident in March and partnered by Andrew Sankey, took fastest by 15 seconds on SS1; by SS5 his lead was two minutes and he’d doubled this by the end.

The only driver to be remotely in touch with the winners was Dave Jenkins, he was comfortably holding second when a turbo fire put his Escort WRC out on SS5. Andrew Bowen was then promoted to second and went on to finish fifty second ahead of a close battle for third.

This fight was eventually won by Steve Joel, he’d run one stage without anti-lag but came through to claim third and the Group N win from Michael O'Brien. The Irish driver had been slowed when a turbo pipe had broken but otherwise had a clear run to fourth. Ian Campbell had a front diff explode at the end of SS5 but got the part changed and went to finish in fifth.

Matt Barker had been as high as third in his 205 during the day, but struggled against the 4WD opposition in the wetter afternoon condition, he finished seventh.

Justin Fowler-Bishop led the 1600cc Class until an off saw him take a stage maximum on SS4. He fought back but just failed to catch Anthony Palmer for the class win at the end.

Grant Rees led Class A initially but fell to third after a shaft broke on SS5, however he charged through the afternoon stages to reclaim the class win and fourteenth overall. Arwel Parry, in his very standard Peugeot, took the runner up spot.
