Simon Harrison/Paul Holmberg took an emphatic win on the Bolton Midnight Rally. This was the first time in eighteen years that the Bolton-Le-Moors CC event had run and it saw crews tackling a 175 mile route in North Yorkshire and Lancashire.

After a opening run over a foggy Kingsdale, Harrison/Holmberg shared the lead with Rob Chalmers/Ric Chalmers, however the latter pairing dropped behind after a couple of wrong slots, one of which meant that they missed their minute at the following control by just two seconds. They survived to take the runners up spot on what is likely to be the navigator's final rally before he emigrates to New Zealand.
Pete Tyson/Neil Harrison emerged from a tight battle in the first half to take third place.
Top seeds Steve Head/Graham Dance had a disappointing outing - electrical problems, a puncture and a missed code board spoiling their run. Jonathan Bossen/Steve Prince (Subaru Impreza) lost four minutes with a puncture and finished in 11th position.
Gearbox failures accounted for the retirements of Alex Willan/Paul Taylor (Vauxhall Astra), Geoff Hall/Paul Bosdet (Mini Cooper S) and Chris Rowlands/Mark Shepherd (Vauxhall Nova).
An off on Kingsdale put Steve Entwistle/Jason Crook (Austin Mini) out of the event, while Phil Matthews/Iain Craven (Peugeot 309 GTi) hit a bank just north of Casterton, but continued to finish in tenth place.
