Phil Turner/Owen Dodd took their second successive Breidden victory as they followed up their first place in 2004, when they'd used a Suzuki Swift, to claim a clear win in an Escort in 2005.

As usual the Welsh Border CC event used a compact route, all within ten miles of the event's base at Welshpool. Heavy rain that preceded the event made the going slippery for the 75 starters.
The victors had been involved in a tight tussle for the lead for most of the first half, as Welsh Champions John Davies/Neil Bevan (Vauxhall Astra) kept within striking distance of the local heroes. The two crews were only six seconds apart at Petrol.
However, the second half used Turner's home territory and he pulled away from his pursuers to win by almost three minutes.
Behind Davies/Bevan, Simon Harrison/Paul Holmberg (Ford Escort) completed the podium places.
'Mad' Mick Jones/Andy Morgan, the Breidden winners in 1994, were going well until their Escort suffered engine failure.
The treacherous conditions claimed an early casuality, Baz Green/Rob Jones only got a mile into the rally before planting their Peugeot 205 in a solid bank.
Finishing in seventeenth place overall, Kev Bolver/Richard Jerman (Ford Escort) won the Semi-Expert Class, finishing three minutes ahead of category rivals Dawn Watkins/Michael Hughes (Vauxhall Nova).
It was a tough night for Novices, only four of the class made the Finish, with Wayne Fisher/Dan Middle taking the class honours.
