Danum Rally 2005

Lindholme Motor Sports Club

21st/22nd May 2005

Clerk of the Course: Ian Beech

Route: 130 Miles

Maps: 112 & 113

Starters: 27

Winners: Adrian Green/Ian Gibbins (Seat Ibiza)

A cautious approach to the Danum Rally saw Adrian Green/Ian Gibbins (Seat Ibiza) taking their second win of the year.

Danum Rally 2005

Lindholme MSC had laid out a 150 mile route on the fast rounds of Lincolnshire, however two visits to Hemswell Cliff airfield and the use of some farm tracks made for a competitive event.

Mike McKenna/Dan Spittlehouse (Mazda 323) led 2004 winners John Dimbleby/David Dimbleby (Ford Fiesta) by 25 seconds at the petrol halt, but both crews made errors noting down code boards in the next section and fell down the order. This allowed Green/Gibbins to move from third to first place, a position they weren't to lose.

James Hoyles/Iain Tullie (Peugeot 106 Rallye) finished in second place despite picking up a three minute penalty due to inadvertently booking in ahead of their scheduled time early on.

The leading Semi-Expert crew were Mick Smith/Rhiannon Blythe (Vauxhall Astra) who had been as high as fourth at one point before falling back to seventh at the Finish.

The only non-finishers were Ben Blanchard/John Turnbull, they were excluded for a give way offence.
