Darren Benyon Memorial Rally

Tom Barber/Alan Williams took a clear win on Ammanford MC's Darren Beynon Memorial Rally. The event was run in memory of a club member who died in 2004. The event was restricted to novice and beginners only. The route was treacherous, West Wales having been hit by a snow storm and then a heavy frost the previous day, despite these conditions 47 of the 59 starters made it to the finish.
The difficulty of the route and conditions were demonstrated by the fact that Barber/Williams won having dropped time at all but one of the thirteen time controls. They were however over four minute clear of second place Galen Howells/Richard Morris.
A number of crews might have won the event, finishing with fewer time penalties than the winners, however they picked up fails for missed signatures, most notable amongst these were Sterling Jenkins/Nathan Davies, who were the quickest crew of the night.
