Kirkby Lonsdale MC's The Harry & The Ivy Rally was won by the Ford Sierra of Robert Jenkinson/Chris Steward.
The 100 mile event, which used many classic lanes in the vicinity of the organising club's home town, was designed for novice crews and 26 cars took the start. They faced unpredictable icy conditions in the first half.
Despite being in the Beginners class Jenkinson/Steward took a clear win, they were the only crew to complete the route free of penalty. They secured the win by being alone in cleaning the slippery Bretherdale section. The runner up spot and Novice class win had to decided on engine capacity, as Paul Schatz/Carol Alexander and Dan Willan/Martyn Taylor each finished with a one minute penalty.
Similarly, the Historic catergory win was decided on a tie-break with Colin Wallace/Craig Wallace getting the decision over George Askew/Peter Johnson. Jon Wood/Paul Bosdet had led until they picked up a puncture on the last section and lost six minutes.
Bruce Murgatroyd/Michael Murgatroyd, on the navigator's first competitive outing, took the Beginners Class Award.
