The 115 mile route used some classic territory including Lowgill, White Moss, Littledale and the Trough of Bowland via numerous whites, bridleways and farmyards. The first half included a long unsurfaced section through farm land across Claughton Moor to Caton Wind Farm.

Tyson/Harrison sealed their win by taking fastest time over the Wray White, five miles of farm tracks around Claughton Moor. Mal Grisedale/Bob Hargreaves took the runner up spot, a reversal of the 2004 result when they had won and the Mini pairing had been second. Third place and the Semi Expert Class win was secured by Bill Chadwick/Alan Edwards.

Paul Mount/Simon Harrison went off the road on the first corner of the night but recovered to take fifth overall and second Semi-Expert, while third in class went to Dan Willan/Heather Grisedale; they had been heading for fifth overall, but a missed code board dropped them to 12th place.

Lee Jones/Phil Martin survived a late scare to take the Novice award; a water hose split on their Astra near the finish.

Alex Willan/Paul Taylor were on the pace of the front runners all night but a timing error dropped them to tenth at the finish.

A number of top runners failed to make the finish, Chris Day/Iain Tullie had a driveshaft fail on the first white of the night; Steve Head/Graham Raeburn only got eleven miles into the event before gearbox problems - a stripped second gear - halted their Nova, and Geoff Hall/Paul Bosdet were stopped by their Mini shearing its wheel studs.
