The pairing arrived at Second Petrol on the classic Chelmsford MC rally with the transmission of their Corolla making loud and ominous noises. They decided to head for home, however four miles down the road the noises disappeared, they resumed the contest and came home as winners.

Monk/Cole dominated the rally, taking fastest time on ten of the event's eighteen sections. Andy Baker/Lee Burgess were the only crew to even come close to the winners' pace, they took fastest time on the first section before being passed by the flying Corolla.

At First Petrol Monk/Cole led Baker/Burgess by 38 seconds, but by Second Petrol their lead was almost three minutes and was extended by a further 30 seconds at the Finish.

There was a close battle throughout the event between the Turner brothers; Revival winner Jamie, who had Graham Raeburn on the maps, pipped Owen and Andrew Dadswell to third after the latter suffered suspension damage.

Top seeds Matt Fowle/Graham Dance had a short event retiring on the first section with a broken CV joint.

The route was challenging in places, with Chalk Farm, Feltwell Farm and Whiteplot Farm being particularly muddy.

Despite conditions, there was a very high finishing rate for the Preston, with 46 cars being classified, 27 clean of fails.
