Winners: Robert Wakelin/Alan Ogden (Subaru Impreza)
Robert Wakelin/Alan Ogden were declared the winners of Whickham & DMC's Shaw Trophy Rally; they finished over two and a half minutes ahead of the field.
The rally used a 160 mile route which climaxed with a run through Harewood Forest. The going was made difficult for all crews with fog in the early Fells section and ice throughout the night.
Wakelin/Ogden survived a failing gearbox, which left them with only second gear at the end, to take the win just ahead of the Peugeot of Stan Featherstone/Mike Ogram. Andy Whittaker/Charlie Tynan had led at the petrol halt but a couple of navigational errors, plus a cautious run through Harwood in their unprotected 205, saw them fall to fourth at the Finish.
Chris Day/Richard Chalmers had a miserable rally, going off the road early on, then suffering petrol and mechanical problems, they finished in twentieth position.
Four crews contested the Club rally, which ended at the main event's petrol halt. This section was won by Monty Pearson/Gary Pearson in their Corsa.
