Martin Betts/Richard Hage took their second win within six weeks when they secured first place on a well received St Wilfrid's Road Rally; their victory margin was 37 seconds.
The Ripon MSC event used a 140 mile route, and the rally saw a tight battle for the lead with the top crews swapping times all night.
Betts/Hage held the lead initially but fell back to third at Petrol. Nick Toplis/Mick Fern led at the halfway point but lost out over the last sections not only to the winners but also to the Mitsubishi Lancer of John Wilkinson/Roger Hage; second and third were separated by just 3 seconds at the Finish.
Terry Pickering/Paul Robinson, in their Triumph TR3, had held second place after two time cards but in the close battle found themselves demoted to fifth at the end, just behind the Proton of Dan Robinson/Ian Gibbins.
Frank Evans/Dan Spittlehouse were second fastest over the final time card but five minutes dropped retracing their steps for a missed code board dropped them to sixteenth in the final tally.
