Clerk of the Course: Graham Willcock
Route: 155 Miles
Map: 100
Starters: 49
Winners: Ian Ainsworth/Iain Tullie (Proton Coupe)
The first time pairing of Ian Ainsworth/Iain Tullie cleaned the second half of the Ryemoor Trophy to move from third place at Petrol to first at the Finish.
Guy Robinson/Charlie Wheeldon led at the halfway point, 18 seconds ahead of Stan Featherstone/Mike Ogram, Ainsworth/Tullie were 8 seconds further back. Soon after the restart both the leading crews were to wrong slot at the same point. Featherstone/Ogram dropped a minute due to the error, they still managed to retain the runner up spot, a repeat of their 2005 result. Robinson/Wheeldon lost two minutes with the wrong slot and, in a close contest, this was enough to demote them to sixth.
Alex Willan/Paul Taylor survived brake problems to clean the second half, which moved them up to the final podium position at the Finish.
Jon Lawson/Chris Pringle were lying second with one section to go but a wrong slot on the final regularity dropped them to fourth, just ahead of Dan Willan/Paul Allen. Willan/Allen were the third crew to be clean from the petrol halt to the end, but they had lost five minutes on the opening section of the night when they had to retrace their steps to get a code board. They were the first Expert crew home.
Paul Schatz/Richard Todd survived a trip into a turnip field to finish in seventh place, eight seconds in front of Alex Kirk-Willey/Craig Hardman. John Dimbleby/David Dimbleby were less fortunate, they ended their rally in a ditch.
Power steering problems delayed Nick Toplis/Mick Fern in the first half and they finished in 16th place overall. Their fellow Proton crew of Danny Robinson/Ian Gibbins had a ten minute wrong slot in the opening sections and could only manage to finish in 22nd place.
Andy Beaumont/Mike Petch finished in twelfth place and took the Historic Category Award, while Stew McNeill/Mark Binny were the leading Novices
