Brian Jones/Ceri Davies took a convincing win on the Ystwyth Rally, a daylight road rally confined to the Sweet Lamb Complex. They took the lead on the second of the event’s four legs, pulled out a healthy lead on the third and coasted to victory on the last.
Nic Morris/Martin Phasey led after the first leg, but a puncture on the second dropped them back; they recovered to fourth at the end. Gareth Edwards/Andrew Edwards kept their Suzuki in touch with the winners until a visit to a ditch cost them time on the third section.
Top seeds Clive Williams/Aled Richards had a very short event, their Clio Williams stopping on the first section with transmission problems.
Gethin Dafis/Debbie Evans seemed to have the Semi-Expert class sewn up and were well inside the top ten until they missed a PC late on. Kevin Morgan/Iestyn Leyshon missed out on second after a similar error.
