Vale of Clwyd Classic
Clwyd Vale Motor Club
7th September 2013
Clerk of the Course: Guy Woodcock
Route: 135 Miles. 7 Regularities + 13 Tests
Maps: 116 & 117
Starters: 68
Winners: Ronnie Griffin/Anthony Preston (Mini Cooper S)
Ronnie Griffin continued the success of Irish drivers on the Clwyd Vale Classic when he followed up Dermot Carnegie’s win the previous year with victory for himself in 2013. Griffin and navigator Anthony Preston dominated the event. They took best performances on both regularities and tests.
This was the third running of the event and for the third time in succession Howard Warren/Iain Tullie took the runner up spot. They had managed to draw level with the winners at the Morning Coffee halt, but then fell back to finish almost a minute behind. HRCR Championship front runners Matt Warren/Cath Woodman were third. They were one of the few crews not to fall into a trap on the penultimate regularity, dropping just three seconds where most other crews picked up a maximum one minute penalty
