Ceri Williams became the first woman to win a Welsh road rally as a driver in over five years when she and navigator Tony Roberts took victory on the Valentine Trophy Rally.
Williams/Roberts led all night. They took the least penalties at the first regularity intermediate control and completed the rally over a minute ahead of the runner up. That place was taken by Gareth Jones/Anna Davies, they were the leading novice crew and as such took the Valentine Trophy.
Dylan Jones/Steffan Llewelyn would have finished on the same penalty as Jones/Davies, and would have taken the Trophy on the furthest clean tie break, but they missed to collect a signature for a code board and fell to 19th place.
Evan Jones/Gareth Jones looked like they may have beaten Williams/Roberts before they went out with a broken ball joint in the second half.
Top seeds Euros Hughes/Caron Jones retired with a broken gear linkage.
