Route: 110 Miles
Maps: 126 & 137
Starters: 75
Winners: Daniel Jones/Graham Dance (Ford Escort)
Despite being unfamiliar with the territory Daniel Jones/Graham Dance took a clear win on the Pacemaker. For Jones it was his first attempt at the Knighton MC event and the win gave him a fourth set of maximum points towards the Welsh Championship, with eight rounds to score.
Jones/Dance finished 59 seconds ahead of Reian Jones/Dan Harrison, who had overtaken top seeds Mark ‘GT’ Roberts/Stewart Merry in the second half. Jones/Harrison being the only crew to clean the last section of the event.
Gethin Morgan/Steve Herbert were only 38 seconds behind the winners at Petrol. After the break they upped their speed. They had just taken the lead at the three-quarters mark when a short on a battery lead caused an engine bay fire. They repaired the damage but the lost time meant that they finished in eight place.
PK Memorial winners Richard Jerman/Iwan Jones led after six of the rally’s 35 time controls but a broken strut put them out of the event.
Leading Welsh Championship contender Meirion Evans had taken top three scores on all five opening rounds of the series, however on the Pacemaker he made it two retirements in a row when he had a high speed crash after only a few miles.
