The Roberts Cousins joined battle once again on home ground on the Border 100 and, on this occasion, it was ‘The Dude’, partnered by Gwawr Hughes, who won. In a closely fought battle ‘GT’ and Dale Bowen held the advantage at Petrol but difficulty negotiating a tight hairpin approaching TC12 saw them fall behind. A faultless run saw ‘The Dude’ win by just eight seconds.
Iwan Pritchard/Ceri Hughes put in another excellent performance to take third, although they were three minutes behind the battling Golfs.
Meirion Evans/Dylan John Williams were only one second off the lead when, for the second week in succession, their Escort succumbed to gearbox failure.
Last year’s winning navigator Dale Furniss took to the driver’s seat and won the Semi-Expert class, finishing 8th overall.
